Complete Guide to Tokyo DisneySea Rides and Attractions

Tokyo DisneySea is an exclusive Japanese Disney park, and a must-see if you visit Japan! There are so many unique rides within the park that you won’t be able to find at any other Disney park.
If you are planning on going to Tokyo DisneySea, then understanding the Tokyo DisneySea rides and attractions will be important for making a fun-filled day of magic and memories.
This post will break down all of the Tokyo DisneySea rides and attractions, including any height restrictions, and which rides are a part of the Disney Premier Pass.
Tip: If you don’t know about the Disney Premier Pass at Tokyo Disney, then read this post; Understanding Tokyo Disneyland’s Premier Pass.
To make it easier I decided to list the rides by their area/land that way it is similar to how it is when you actually visit there.
Tokyo DisneySea
If you don’t already know, Tokyo DisneySea is divided into 7 different areas/lands. Which is very much like other Disney parks.
And just like the other Disney Parks around the world, each area/land is themed with rides that correlate with the theming.
One thing that needs to be understood about Tokyo DisneySea, is that their rides can be a bit different than rides or attractions at Disneyland or Walt Disney World.
Not all of the rides are actual rides, but attractions/ things to see, do and explore. This is something to keep in mind as you go through the list.
Tokyo DisneySea Rides: Mederteranian Harbor
Mederteranian Harbor is the land where you first enter the park. It is almost equivalent to Main St. in the US parks.
The overall theme of the area is very much similar to that of some streets in Italy. Making it feel like you’ve entered a different world.
Stay tuned for a post on Tokyo DisneySea MiraCosta Hotel, which is the hotel that is attached to Tokyo DisneySea and continues with this Mederteranian and Italian theming.
Venetian Gondolas – This is a fun little ride that actually takes you around the water on a gondola. There is a cast member to ride you through the Mederteranian harbor and tell you stories.
It is a great way to see parts of the Mediterranean Harbor from the water, which you can’t experience from the ground!

This ride is enjoyable for all ages and can be enjoyed from opening until closing.
If you’re looking for something extra magical, then hop on this attraction at night.
Soaring: Fantastic Flight – Similar to the popular guest favorite in Disneyland and Walt Disney World. This ride takes you on a journey through famous landmarks around the world.
The queue leading up to this ride is also just incredible and something to see. It is themed to pay respect to the history of flight. Showcasing the many different types of flight contraptions that were invented before the first successful flight happened.
The height requirement is listed below. And there is Disney Premier Access available for this attraction as well.
Fortress Explorations – A fortress ad galleon waiting for you to explore! This walkthrough experience allows guests to see various exhibits of some of the first studies of the planets and astronomy, and discover nautical instruments.
If I had to compare it to any ride within the Disneyland parks, I would compare it to Tarzan’s treehouse (Disneyland) and Redwood Creek Challenge Trail (Disney California Adventure).

This was a fun attraction that I enjoyed more than I thought I would. I did explore it at night, which made some aspects a bit difficult, but it was a lot of fun.
The Leonardo Challenge – Now, this isn’t an attraction, but a fun little addition to the Fortress Exploration attraction.
There is a front desk that gives a list of all the challenges to complete. The desk does close at dusk, so be sure to get there ahead of time. The challenge is free.

Turtle Talk – Enter the S.S. Columbia and chat with Crush through an underwater window area. That’s right, you can chat with Crush from Pixar’s Finding Nemo! Crush loves meeting and chatting with new friends.
This attraction is set up in a theater style and is similar to Turtle Talk with Crush at Disney California Adventure Park in California.
Tower of Terror – Guests embark on an adventure through an old hotel, and enter the elevator for a thrilling adventure.
This attraction is very similar to the Tower of Terror attraction in the US Parks. However, there are a few differences. Since the original story doesn’t translate well to Japanese Culture, Imagineers had to get creative to create a thrilling and captivating storyline that would appeal to the country’s culture.
Be sure to check below for the height requirements for this attraction.

*Tower of Terror “Unlimited” will be available for guests to enjoy from January 4 – March 17, 2023.
Toy Story Mania! – Become the size of a toy, and play some fun carnival games under Andy’s bed!
This attraction is very similar to the Toy Story Mania that is in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. With a similar but different queue.
Because this attraction is popular, Disney Premier Access is available for this attraction.
Big City Vehicles – Enjoy a ride around the American Waterfront in an old-style automobile. Hitch a ride on these classic automobiles that started to take the streets in the early 20th century.
Tokyo DisneySea Rides: Mysterious Island
Mysterious Island is located towards the center of the park, with one of the only ways to get to Mermaid Lagoon.
Mysterious Island is a Tokyo DisneySea exclusive! These rides aren’t found at any other Disney park worldwide, and they are a lot of fun!
Mysterious Island is also the home to the Tokyo DisneySea iconic volcano, Mount Prometheus.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea – This attraction, takes guests on a submarine journey to discover a vast undersea world.
The ride submarine only holds a handful of guests at a time. Which can make the line for the attraction really long. There are FastPasses available for this attraction, so be sure to see what the times are when you are there.
It is definitely a unique and cool attraction to visit when at Tokyo DisneySea.
Journey to the Center of the Earth – A signature Tokyo DisneySea Ride! This ride is a must-see for all guests!
Personal Experience: This was hands-down my personal favorite Tokyo DisneySea Ride! It literally took my breath away! I wish I could have gone on it more than once!

Flounder’s Flying Fish Coaster – Join some flying fish friends of Flounder (Ariel’s best friend), and enjoy this coaster of a ride. The flying fish will take you to a tide pool and lagoon, during this adventure.
Flounder’s Flying Fish Coaster does have a height requirement to go on the ride. See below for more details.
Blowfish Balloon Race – Board a seashell gondola carried by a blowfish, for an underwater spin!
This attraction is indoors but is probably most comparable to the Emotional Whirlwind that is at Pixar Pier, in Disney California Adventure Park.
Mermaid Lagoon Theater – Enjoy King Triton’s Concert. This new, musical show showcases Ariel, her sisters, and her friends.
With popular songs from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, such as Part of Your World, and Under the Sea.
This show is brand new and displays beautiful visuals, and fan-favorite songs, and is overall a great performance!
The Whirlpool – Enter in a kelp cup and go on a whirlwind ride! Enjoy spinning round and round, but don’t get too dizzy.
This attraction is most comparable with the iconic teacup rides at the US parks, but this one has an under-the-sea, little mermaid theme.

Tokyo DisneySea Rides: Port Discovery
Aquatopia – A trackless ride at DisneySea, this one will take you on many twirls and spins around the water. Because this is a trackless ride, you will never know where you end up.

Personally, this attraction was one of my favorites, and I thought it was so fun! I don’t think it really compares to any attraction that I’ve been on in any of the US parks.
Nemo & Friends SeaRider – Board a SeaRider, and become the size of a fish as you explore marine life. Keep an eye out, as you might see friends from Finding Nemo, as well as Finding Dory.
Tokyo DisneySea Rides: Arabian Coast
One of my personal favorite areas in all of DisneySea! When visiting the Arabian Coast you feel like you have been transported to Agrabah.
Caravan Carousel – Under the giant domed roof, there is a two-story carousel featuring unique beasts, Genie, and more.
Jasmine’s Flying Carpets – Board a magic carpet and fly over Jasmine’s gardens. The magic carpet is under your command, allowing you to make the carpet go up and down, or tilt forward and backward.
Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage – Take a boat ride down and hear the story of Sindbad the sailor and his loyal tiger cub, Chandu. Watch their adventures unfold as they learn to follow the “compass of your heart”.
Music for this attraction was written by the legend Alan Menken, who is a songwriter for Disney.

This attraction is very comparable to ‘its a small world’, but with a different story, and a great song you won’t mind being in your head.
The Magic Lamp Theater – Enjoy a show put on by Shaban, who is one of the ‘greatest magician in the world’. This is his first solo performance without Genie, so you never know what is in store.
Tokyo DisneySea Rides: Lost River Delta
Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull – Go on a temple tour by Paco (a friend of Dr. Indiana Jones), and try not to get caught by the guardian spirit, Crystal Skull. The last thing you wish to do is anger the spirit.
This attraction does have a height requirement, so be sure to check out more on height requirements down below.
Raging Spirits – Enjoy a high-speed rollercoaster that races through the ruins of an ancient ceremonial site that has been excavated.
This rollercoaster will take you on a 360-degree loop, so it is not for the faint of heart!
Additionally, there is a height requirement for this attraction.

Tokyo DisneySea Steamer Line
The Tokyo DisneySea Transit Steamer Line is one of the few rides that go throughout the whole park. If the Tokyo DisneySea Transit Steamer Line is to be compared to any other attraction, it would be very similar to the Disneyland Railroad.
As you are able to relax and see every different area of the park.
This is a little video from Tokyo DisneySea to get an idea about the Tokyo DisneySea Transit Steamer Line.
Tokyo DisneySea Rides: Height Requirements
As you can tell through the list of Tokyo DisneySea rides above, there aren’t very many rides that have height requirements. Making it a fun park for the whole family, regardless of size.
Due to Japan using a different metric system than what is used in the US, all of the height requirements are listed in centimeters. To make it easier regardless of where you are traveling to Japan from, I have the height requirements listed in cm as well as in.
Below is a list of all the Tokyo DisneySea Rides that have height requirements; with the height requirements listed in both cm and in.
Soaring: Fantastic Flight – 102 cm / 40 in.
Raging Spirits – 117 cm / 46 in.*
Indiana Jones – 117 cm / 46 in.
Flounder’s Flying Fish Coaster – 90 cm / 36 in.
Journey to the Center of the Earth – 117 cm / 46 in.
Tower of Terror – 102 cm / 40 in.
*Note: As well as being over 117 cm / 46 in, guests must be under 195 cm / 77 in to enjoy the ride.
Tokyo DisneySea Rides FAQ:
Here are some of the frequent questions that arise with Tokyo DisneySea Rides. For any additional questions that you have, feel free to reach out via email, Instagram, or Facebook.
Is Tokyo DisneySea worth it?
Yes! Tokyo DisneySea is worth it.
Personally, it is my favorite Disney Park!
If you only have one day to visit a Disney Park during your trip to Japan, I would highly recommend that you visit DisneySea over Disneyland. As Tokyo DisneySea will give you the most unique exclusively Japanese experience.
Is Tokyo DisneySea A Water Park?
No, Tokyo DisneySea is not a water park. Both Disney parks in Japan are located right on the water, and you will be able to feel the ocean breeze when there.
Tokyo DisneySea does have a few ‘water rides’ but not in the sense that you might be used to being from the United States.
There are quite a few rides that are in the water, or that are around water, but there aren’t any rides where you would get wet.
What Tokyo DisneySea attractions are particularly popular?
There are quite a few Tokyo DisneySea attractions that are popular. Most of them do have Disney Premier Access for guests to purchase making it easier to see.
However, one thing that is popular that they don’t offer Disney Premier Access for, is the character meet and greets. This unfortunately means that if you want to meet that character, you are going to have to wait in that 100+ minute line to see the character.
Can you do Disneyland and DisneySea in one day?
Currently, there is not a park hopper option available at Tokyo Disney like there is in the parks in the states.
Before the pandemic, they did offer a park hopper option, but only on a 3 or 4-day park ticket, and park hopping was only allowed on the last two days.
They since have not reopened this type of ticket for sale.
Additionally, I am not a fan of park hopping and do not recommend it, as it would take up too much valuable time.
The Wrap-Up: Tokyo DisneySea Rides
Visiting Tokyo DisneySea is great because there are attractions that are similar to fan favorites from the U.S. Parks, while also having some unique Tokyo Disney-only attractions.
There are a wide variety of rides and attractions for guests to enjoy at Tokyo DisneySea. With few rides that have height requirements, this is a park that can be fun for all ages.
Tokyo DisneySea Rides truly is unique and unlike anything I have ever seen or experienced before. If you are a Disney fan, you should definitely make it a priority to visit.
