Disneyland After Dark: Grad Nite Reunion

For the first time ever, Disneyland is hosting a very special After Dark event! This is a one-of-a-kind event that is definitely something that shouldn’t be missed. Starting in 2022, Disneyland is hosting an After Dark Grad Nite Reunion.

At the end of April, the Disneyland Resort announced that they would be doing an After Dark: Grad Nite Reunion!

You can read the full announcement on Disney Parks Blog here.

This special event is designed to celebrate the last 60 years of graduates! Highlighting some of the favorite moments of the decades.

Disneyland After Dark Events

If you have never been to an After Dark Event, then let me tell you, you are definitely missing out!

The Disneyland After Dark events are a great way to enjoy the parks with fewer crowds! These events always have limited admission events, and regardless of what event it is, tickets sell fast.

After Dark events usually run about 4 hours, but guests with tickets can usually ‘mix in’ with daytime guests about 2 to 3 hours prior to the start of the event.

This can be a great way for guests who don’t want to spend the whole day there at the parks but just want a few extra hours.

Disneyland Grad Nite

Every year (with the exception of the closed year due to the pandemic), Disneyland hosts an opportunity for high school graduates to celebrate their accomplishments through an after-dark event called, Grad Nite.

Typically taking place during select nights during May and June, it is a great way for grads to celebrate at the “Happiest Place on Earth”.

For more specific information on Disneyland Grad Nite, you can check out my blog post here; Disneyland Grad Night [2022]. I do try to keep that post updated every year. So if you are planning on attending, once the information for the next year becomes available I update the post.

For the first time in the history of Disneyland, they have announced this Grad Nite Reunion. This special after-hours event takes place at Disney California Adventure park!

Grad Nite Reunion Hours

The Disneyland After Dark: Grad Nite Reunion officially kicks off at 8 pm and goes until midnight.

However, as with most other after-hour special events that Disney hosts, guests with tickets are able to enter the park a few hours prior.

This event is no different, and guests are able to ‘mix in’ with daytime guests starting at 5 pm! Giving guests even more time to enjoy Disney California Adventure.

Additionally, guests with tickets to the After Dark Grad Nite Reunion do not need to make a park reservation in order to enter the parks! With park reservations still being in effect for the unforeseen future, this is great news!

Grad Nite Reunion Cost

After Dark park events have their own pricing depending upon the time of year, popularity, etc. For the After Dark Grad Nite Reunion, even though this year (2022) is the first year, the pricing is set a bit higher than normal after-hour events.

Tickets start at $150 a person (3 years and older).

I have looked into getting tickets, and the first night (June 23rd) the tickets are set at that $150 range, the other two nights (June 28 and June 30) are set at $154 per person.

Tickets went on sale on April 28, 2022 so be sure to grab your tickets now before they sell out.

It is also important to remember that the ticket cost, does not include parking. Parking would be an extra $30 per vehicle for the day. You can purchase a parking voucher online ahead of time.

But the ticket to the event does include the Disney PhotoPass, which allows guests unlimited downloads of their photos taken during the event. These include attraction photos and photos with characters.

What To Expect at After Dark Grad Nite Reunion

This After Dark event is designed to bring back all of the nostalgia from the past six decades.

Which will include a unique menu with ‘cafeteria-inspired’ items, as well as unique photo opportunities.

There are also photo ops throughout the park for guests to enjoy taking photos.

These photo ops should have Disney PhotoPass photographers, which means that the photos taken will be available for download after the event. (You just have to link the photos to your account).

Disneyland After Dark: Grad Nite Reunion FAQ

With After-Dark events, there are always a lot of questions raised around the event. And with a new event being released there are usually a lot more questions.

Here are some of the more common questions that are being asked about the Disneyland After Dark Grad Nite Reunion.

Did You Have To Attend A Disneyland Grad Nite To Go To The Reunion?

No! Disneyland has opened tickets to the event to anyone and everyone! Which is great!

If you didn’t get a chance to go to the Disneyland Grad Nite, when you graduated, this could be the time to go!

Who Can Attend the After Dark: Grad Nite Reunion?

Anyone and everyone can attend the Disneyland After Dark: Grad Nite Reunion!

Any guest that is 3 years and older will need their own ticket, and ticket costs for special events like this do not cost less for children. Which is something to keep in mind when planning to go.

Is There A Dress Code For the Grad Nite Reunion?

There really isn’t a separate dress code for any of the after-dark events. If you can wear it during the day at the parks, then you can wear it to the special events.

The only exception is the events that allow costumes, like the Halloween After Dark event.

However, for the full Disneyland Dress Code, click here. It gives you the full breakdown of what attire is allowed within the parks, and during special events.

How does Disney After Dark work?

Disney After-Dark events can look a bit different depending on if you are already in the park, or just going for the event.

If you are already in the park…

There is a designated area for you to check in for the event. It is important to have your event tickets linked to the Disneyland app account. It will make the process a lot easier.

For instructions on how to link your tickets, check out Everything You Need To Know About The Disneyland App.

When you get to the designated area, someone will scan your tickets, and give you an event wristband, map, and usually a commemorative keepsake.

The wristband is important because that is how cast members will know to allow you to stay in the park during the hour in which they remove all the daytime guests.

If you are NOT already in the park…

There usually are a few turnstiles at the front gate that are separated for guests who are attending the After Dark event.

Once in line at one of the designated areas, they will scan your tickets for entry just like if you were going for a regular day.

On the other side of the turnstiles there usually will be tables and markers guiding event guests to head in a specific direction, to give them their wristband, map, and commemorative keepsake.

Regardless of if you are in the parks or not, once you have your wristband you are free to enjoy the parks. However, there usually is about an hour when the rides will close down to give that final push of the daytime guests out of the park.

This also allows all event guests to enjoy the start of the event which usually takes place on Main Street (if in Disneyland) or at Buena Vista Street (if in Disney California Adventure).
