This February, find different ways to celebrate Black History Month at Disney World. For 2023, there are new and traditional ways that you can celebrate.

Disney has a wide variety of festivities that are designed to celebrate, educate, and honor Black heritage and culture. These festivities can be found all throughout the Disney World Resort for the whole month of February.

Black History Month at Disney World: EPCOT Festivities

At EPCOT, the Festival of the Arts is already taking place, with an emphasis on Black artists at the festival.

CreativeSoul Photography

For a limited time, guests will be able to meet the founders of CreativeSoul Photography; Kahran and Regis Bethencourt. From February 3^rd through 5^th, they will be at the American Adventure pavilion to showcase their work.

CreativeSoul Photography created reimagined Disney Princess looks. Through dolls, costumes, and photos, you can see it all at their gallery.

Disney On Broadway

During select nights February 4^th through 19^th, Black Broadway performers will be showcased during the Disney On Broadway concert series.

These performers will include:
– L.Steven Taylor (from The Lion King)
– Michael James Scott (from Aladdin)
– Kissy Simmons (from The Lion King)

These are definitely going to be performances that you aren’t going to want to miss during your trip.

Black History Month at Disney World: Animal Kingdom Festivities

It is no secret that Animal Kingdom already highlights Black culture through music and art throughout the year. During Black History Month at Disney World, guests can expect a continuation of this.

There will be music from the Congo with Tam Tam Drummers, as well as Viva Gaia which is the Caribbean Street Party music.

The Conservation Station will pay tribute to Disney’s first Black animator, Floyd Norman, and how he brought some of our favorite characters to life.

Additionally, guests will be able to take home authentic imported African art, clothing, crafts, instruments, and more created by African artisans. These will be available at Mombasa Marketplace.

Black History Month at Disney World: Disney Springs Festivities

If you aren’t going to the parks this February, but still want to experience the Black History Month festivities happening at Disney World; then head on down to Disney Springs.

On all three Disney Spring stages, guests can expect to hear live music from Black musicians on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday nights.

A performance list for Disney Spring stage performances hasn’t been released, but if one becomes available, I will update it accordingly.

Disney Springs Art Walk: A Canvas of Expression

Already a guest favorite experience, A Canvas of Expression, will highlight two additional new Black artists. Guests will be able to see these artists paint live in the park during Black History Month.

Guests can expect to see the work of; Earnest Shaw, Nneka Jones, Everett Spruill, and David Anthony Geary.

Throughout the Disney parks, guests can stop by any of the Magic Shots which will have special photography features. Pose with Princess Tiana in her element at Tiana’s Place, selfies with Penny and friends from The Proud Family, and many more.

Black History Month at Disney World: Celebrate Soulfully

Highlighting Black cuisine, Disney World is offering ‘Celebrate Soulfully’. This offers a variety of different cuisines highlighting Black culture.

These delicious offerings are available all throughout Walt Disney World.

The Wrap-Up: Black History Month at Disney World

Disney is working hard to ensure that they are continuing its ongoing commitment to diversity and representation, not only throughout the movies and series that they create, but additionally within its parks.

There are a total of eight cookies that qualify for the Holiday Cookie Stroll. However only five of them need to be purchased in order to complete the EPCOT Holiday Cookie Stroll.

This year there are more than 15 different Holiday Kitchens where guests can enjoy festive food from all over the world. These items include meals, treats, beverages, and desserts.

This year there are 22 different Holiday kitchens at the EPCOT Festival of the holidays! Which means there is going to be a lot of holiday food to enjoy from all around the world.

Each Holiday Kitchen offers limited festive snacks, food items, and beverages (both alcoholic and non beverages are available at most holiday kitchens). And each holiday kitchen offers special holiday festive food to the theme of that area, or region that it represents.

How long is the Epcot Festival the Holidays?

The EPCOT Festival of the Holidays starts the day after Thanksgiving and goes until the end of the holiday season in January.

This year the event will start on November 29, 2024, and will end on December 30, 2024. Giving guests lots of time to enjoy the special Festival of the Holidays Food items available during that time.

Wanting to have Thanksgiving dinner at one of the Walt Disney World parks? There are plenty of different places across the Walt Disney World parks where guests can enjoy thanksgiving dinner and other seasonal treats in the park!

Some might require a reservation ahead of time, so be sure to see what you need prior to going.

Also, note that most of these are only available on November 24th. If the dates differ, I will make a note of it.

Thanksgiving at Walt Disney World: EPCOT

Here are all of the restaurants at EPCOT that are doing Thanksgiving dinner, and Thanksgiving-themed items.

Most of the items listed are only available on Thursday, November 24. However, there are a few that are extended a bit longer for the holiday season.

The parks are already decorated for the Holiday season, from the start of November til the beginning of January.

For thanksgiving specifically, there are different turkey dinners and treats that you can find around the different parks, as well as at the various Disney World resort hotels.

Is Disney World crowded during Thanksgiving week?

You can expect to see pretty big crowds during the week of thanksgiving. Most schools are out of session, which means it’s vacation time!

The week of Thanksgiving is probably a week that I would ultimately recommend avoiding if you can help it.

Is Disney crowded the week before Thanksgiving?

The holiday time is always a busy time to visit the parks. However, going the week before the holiday will usually mean it is less crowded.

One thing to keep in mind is that Magic Kingdom holds Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party during the holiday season, so be sure to avoid going to Magic Kingdom on that day as it will usually mean larger crowds.

Is Thanksgiving a good time to go to Disney World?

Anytime is usually a good time to visit Walt Disney World! I mean it isn’t called the ‘Most Magical Place On Earth’ for nothing! However, when it comes to spending holidays at Disney World, some people can be skeptical.

From personal experience, I can say that spending a holiday at a Disney park is one of the best experiences ever, as it is a great way to have delicious food made for you.
