Disney has officially announced the re-opening of Blizzard Beach for the end of May 2025! Which means it is time to plan that Disney World vacation, and pack the bags because May will be here before we know it!

Blizzard Beach Reopening History

Blizzard Beach had it’s grand re-opening in November 2023. This was huge as it was the first opening of Blizzard Beach since the pandemic closure. This was much later than the re-opening of all the other Walt Disney World parks, including their other water park Typhoon Lagoon.

All of those other parks reopened post pandemic in 2021, while Blizzard Beach remained closed for refurbishment.

Now, the two will be trading spots as Blizzard Beach re-opens and Typhoon Lagoon closes for refurbishment. There is currently no set date as to when Typhoon Lagoon will re-open.

Focusing on Blizzard Beach, let’s look at some exciting things we can look forward to with this re-opening.

Disney Water Park Special 2025 Ticket

Walt Disney World announced that guests staying at select Disney Resort Collection Hotels will be able to enjoy a special Water Park special!

These guests will be able to enjoy admission to either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon on the day of their hotel check-in! (At no additional cost!)

Yes, you’ve read that correctly! Guests who are staying at a select Disney World Resort Collection Hotel will be able to enjoy a Disney Water Park the day of their hotel check-in (even if they haven’t checked into the hotel yet!).

How tall do you have to be for Blizzard Beach?

Blizzard Beach, overall, has attractions for the whole family. Guests of any age can enjoy many of the different rides and attractions.

However, there are a few attractions that do have height requirements. There is one ride that has a height requirement of 32″ (81 cm). There are three other rides that have a height requirement of 48″ (122 cm).

How old do you have to be to go to Blizzard Beach?

There is no actual age requirement to go to Blizzard Beach, however, there is the rule that no child under the age of 10 is allowed to enter without an adult.

For the most part, other than a few attractions with height requirements, there are plenty of rides and attractions that are fun for the whole family.

How tall is the water slide in Blizzard Beach?

Summit Plummet is the tallest water slide at Blizzard Beach. This thriller water ride gives you a 360-foot descent! Where you will drop nearly straight down 12 stories!

Guests can expect to reach some high speeds on this one! Making this one of the most popular, attractions at Blizzard Beach.

In fact, Summit Plummet is one of the fastest Walt Disney World attractions and one of the world’s top three free-fall water slides!

Remember this attraction does have a minimum height requirement of 48″ (122 cm) for guests.

Are there Disney characters at Blizzard Beach?

Yes! An authentic Disney experience wouldn’t be complete without being able to see and interact with our favorite characters.

But keep in mind that they might be dressed in their beach attire, rather than the attire that you would find them wearing at any of the other parks.

The Wrap-Up: Blizzard Beach Height Requirements

As you can tell from the list above, there aren’t that many rides at Blizzard Beach that have height requirements. Which can make Blizzard Beach a fun Disney Destination for the whole family.

And as long as everyone in your party is over 48″ (122 cm) tall, then you don’t have to worry about height requirements at Blizzard Beach.
